The Argentine has enjoyed astounding success with his club for the past 10 years, and he puts it down to the togetherness in the Blaugrana dressing room
Lionel Messi has affirmed that Barcelona’s incredible run of success over the last decade is down to their unmatchable team spirit.
The Catalans have won the Liga and Copa del Rey double in two consecutive seasons, and in the last 10 years have only failed to lift the league title four times.
Their record compares favourably to that of Real Madrid, who last picked up La Liga in 2011-12; and Messi thinks he knows why.
“We are a group and we work together to win. There is no egotism in anyone in this squad,” he explained to the Sun.
“We always try to enjoy playing together and a goal also gives you confidence, so we always try to enjoy it together when we have a game under control.”
The Argentine also praised his strike partner Neymar, who will play alongside him at the Etihad Stadium when Barca take on Manchester City on Tuesday.
“Ney is also a person who is very close to us and who we admire a lot,” he said.
“He has such a joyful character. We all get on very well together.”
