A really young boy has been seriously brutalized by the family dog after the animal jumped on him in a really brutal attack.
A 2-year-old boy has been attacked by his family dog.
WFMY News reports that the young boy was attacked in Wilkes County, North Carolina on Sunday.
The sad incident has sparked tension in the area as families have become more concious of their dogs.
The sheriff’s department confirmed the dog which attacked the boy was a pit bull.
The animal was euthanized by a family member after the attack, according to the sheriff’s office.
EMS Director Eric Morrison says the child was brought to the Champion Fire Department by family members.
The 2-year-old was then transported to Wilkes Regional and then flown to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.
Morrison says the injuries are potentially life threatening.
The boy is listed in critical condition at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
The Sheriff’s Office and Wilkes County Animal Control are investigating.
