Man United & Antoine Griezmann
While most fans of the Red Devils are fully focused on the upcoming match against Liverpool at Anfield on Monday night, the Mirror on Sunday shine a light on the transfer plans at Old Trafford.
For a while now, Man United have been linked with Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann.
Griezmann recently told Telefoot the could see himself leaving Atleti if manager Diego Simeone moved on too, while it’s been confirmed that Diego Simeone has decided to leave the Rojiblancos before his contract expires in 2018.
That’s provoked articles in the press claiming United, as well as Chelsea, are trying to land the French international forward.
The story has popped up again on Sunday, with the Mirror telling their readers the following:
United have held further talks with the Spanish club and Ed Woodward has made it clear the Frenchman is wanted as the next big name at Old Trafford.
More talks have been held with Old Trafford executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward making it known that they see the £80million-rated hitman as their next big signing.
So is the deal a goer? One suspects ‘yes’, as otherwise it would seem incredibly odd that Atletico would even be talking to Man United in this context.
The Mirror finish their article noting that if United do sign Griezmann, Wayne Rooney will be sent packing from Old Trafford.
Rooney reportedly has interest from America and the Far East.
